Soundin' Off

Bridgeport Sound Tigers

Bold, brave and undaunted

“Yesterday was great,” Rick DiPietro said. “A nice day off. Got some treatment. Relaxed. … I felt good coming into today. It was a good practice.”

When the team skated at the end, he skated with them. Then he went upstairs to work out. I don’t see why. He spent the second half of practice shoveling snow. You could seriously build a snowman with what they kick up at Shelton. Anyway.

Check out the comments here for some thoughts from Section 105 on Rick’s return.

Meanwhile, as became apparent when Mike Schroeder called Jeremy Reich off the ice to sign some papers at about 11:30, Reich is cleared to play. He’s on waivers, and if he clears Tuesday, he’ll be assigned to Bridgeport. Now once the Islanders assign that Moulson kid, the Sound Tigers’ July-anticipated lineup will be just about complete.

Today was technically an optional. The only ones not out there, though, were Smith, Haley and Lawson (“just maintenance,” Capuano said)… and Tony Romano: no comment from Capuano on that one. The logical guess, though, is he could be bound for Utah after playing in only one of the past seven games. It’s still, even without him, a mighty crowded group of forwards, especially once you toss Reich into the mix to make 16. Before the injuries/legal issues of the end of October into early November, there was talk of two or three forwards going to Utah. One’s there, one may be on the way, and we’ll see if anything happens beyond that.

The transactions have Andrew MacDonald assigned to Bridgeport on Saturday. That sure appears to be paper-only. Edit: He’s listed as recalled again.

Chris Botta caught up to Kirill Petrov’s agent.

Lindsay Kramer reports that Brandon Sugden is going to Russia. Hershey scored five on Steve Valiquette Sunday, then tacked on four more against Matt Zaba. Apparently sent the JVs out for the third.

Edit: Syracuse signed Daniel Tkaczuk to a PTO.

And RIP, Liam Clancy. Turn up the speakers for a little Brennan on the Moor, perhaps.
