Kvitova vs. Bondarenko. Thanks to hockey, this looks like Smith vs. Jones.
Greetings from the John DeStefano Media Center* and the windy but muggy but not** rainy Pilot Pen Tennis tournament. Melanie Oudin has just gone down in three sets to Dominika Cibulkova. James Blake is about a half-hour away from his return to these courts.
The AHL announced that the schedule will finally come out Wednesday at 4 p.m. Speaking of schedules, the Wolf Pack announced today that that game set for Sept. 23 at Newark is actually an NHL rookie game. If you were making travel plans, don’t: It’s not open to the public.
Trent Whitfield has a torn Achilles, the same thing that ended Kurtis McLean’s season in 2009.
Bangor lost the final of the Senior League World Series to a team from Aruba. Anthony Capuano was 0-for-3. If you want to watch, it’s on ESPN2 on Wednesday at noon.

hi mike, any word on when the tigers will announce they’re preseason games? I’ve seen that other teams have announced them as opposition.

I know of 3 so far. 1 in Hershey and a “home and home” with Hartford with games at Quinnipiac and the Rinks.
