Bridgeport Sound Tigers

Kings of the forest

Manchester moved on with a 2-1 overtime win over Worcester, which finished off the series at home in six. Bud Holloway didn’t score; slacker. (He did assist on Viatcheslav Voynov’s winner.) A 2-3-2 series begins Wednesday in Hershey.

Out West, Jamie Benn had three goals and two assists, and Texas took a 3-2 series lead. The Wolves need wins Sunday and Tuesday at home to move on.

Meanwhile, guess I missed the (unofficial, right?) memo over the weekend, but I guess Oklahoma City is going to be the Barons. Kinda like the logo with the derrick, though taking a word or three out mightn’t be a bad thing.

After the buzzer

Some notes from the chat: Katic’s getting the shoulder evaluated, and surgery is a possibility but not a given; Kinasewich arrived around noon; Reich skated with Bentivoglio and Haskins today.

Not within the chat: Howard Saffan said he hadn’t seen that TV report from last night but denied any discussion about the Islanders’ selling the Sound Tigers to be moved to Albany. “The Bridgeport Sound Tigers are not for sale,” he said. He confirmed that the lease has 11 years remaining.

And sorry, Doug, for cutting you off: The lead photo on the Web site is indeed from October (it’s against Norfolk and Dustin Kohn’s in the back), hence the blue gloves.

Edit: Oklahoma City is, at long last, official. Here’s the new team’s Web site.
