…Al Montoya, former Rangers goalie of the future, who comes from Phoenix for a sixth-rounder. He’s reporting to Bridgeport, says the release, but Katie Strang expects him to go up quickly.
Montoya’s big tie to Bridgeport history — aside from the occasional big goal scored on him by college teammate Jeff Tambellini — is that he was in goal when Bridgeport took a then-team-record 53 shots (still a regulation record) at Hartford on Oct. 29, 2005. He made 51 saves to win 3-2.
