Meaningful glances and chats

Micheal Haley returns against Worcester; Mike Moore isn’t back. We’ll see what (if anything) follows from that. Rhett Rakhshani out with “lower-body soreness,” but Kael Mouillierat returns. Tyler McNeely is scratched to make room for Haley. Worcester has one to scratch, and Frazer McLaren seemed to be the one hanging out in the neutral zone.

By the way, word is that the black sweaters have been seen for the last time this year.

And it appears the replay system is back up and running today.

Springfield pregame (updated)

To save a bunch of commenters saying “Olson was traded to Houston,” summary of the day so far, and we’ll tack lineups on here around 6:45 with anything else in between:

–Benn Olson to the Aeros for future considerations. He’d barely played here since the new year, and with the bodies coming back, it didn’t look as if he was going to play much, either. So, probably good for both parties.

–The team let Dallas Jackson go from his PTO.

–Columbus called up Greenwich’s Cam Atkinson, so Bridgeport will miss him tonight. Or maybe Springfield will miss him. Whoever’s running the CBJ Twitter feed has been answering questions all day. Some of the responses are priceless; Some of the questions, even more.

More after a car ride.

More after the car ride: Bridgeport made official three more AHL contracts, Kael Mouillierat, Scott Howes and Jon Landry. They’ll all be eligible for the Sound Tigers’ Clear Day list on March 5.

Neither Calvin de Haan nor Mark Katic will play tonight. If you do the math on all the ins and outs and suspension and guys-who-didn’t-practice this week, you’re left with 18 skaters for Bridgeport. That’s apparently who’s in tonight. We’ll toss the lineups up after warmup. Which, if I remember that the game’s at 7:30 instead of 7, will be around 7:15.

And here they are.

Springfield doesn’t put the letters on their warmup jerseys. I’ll add them if I can.

Bridgeport released Riley Gill tonight.

Stuff we may know

We don’t know a heck of a lot, as we’ve maintained a rough radio silence since roughly Thursday. But…

–Anders Nilsson was sent back down after Friday’s game. (If you’re an RSSer who has also been laying low since Nilsson and Micheal Haley were called up Wednesday, you’ll also want to note that Dylan Reese was sent back down Thursday.)
–The ECHL transactions today say that Wheeling edit: Gwinnett loaned former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton left winger Joey Haddad to Bridgeport.
–His agent reported that Kael Mouillierat is coming back here, fresh off a highlight-reel goal, with film here (something like “Alaska vs. Idaho OT Win 4-3 Shootout,” if it’s not still the first thing that loads; it leads). Didn’t see confirmation from Idaho, but his agent was right on the last time.

We’ll see if there’s more of note from (or after) the morning skate Monday morning, by which time we’ll have to start keeping an eye on the World Juniors.

Some other links from the week: Mike Milbury won’t face any charges. And a catching-up-with piece with Blaine Down, who’s 29 and a dad.

Three PTOs released/Monday notes/Tuesday chat

Bridgeport released Wes Cunningham, Kael Mouillierat and Tyler Ruegsegger from their tryouts today. Their ECHL teams all have games this week — Ruegsegger and Mouillierat could play each other three times in Boise by Friday — and there’s the possibility of players getting healthy here.

Josh Hennessy wound up with a broken nose on a Brett Gallant hit yesterday, Mark Divver reported. Hennessy thought the hit was OK.

Nick Niedert is going back to Elmira. Whirlwind of a week for him.

And we’ll chat Tuesday at 1:30, if folks are around.

It keeps turning

The roster keeps turning over. Kael Mouillierat at last arrived, and they finished up the skate with 13 forwards, seven defensemen and two goalies. (Brett Gallant and Anton Klementyev were the extras.) Ah, but then the Islanders announced that Kevin Poulin and Calvin de Haan were on their way back down. Andrew MacDonald and Mark Eaton are making the trip with the big club, Arthur Staple reported, and Nino Niederreiter appears ready to go. (Officially, the Islanders said that their emergency conditions on defense remain in effect, if they need to call someone back up tomorrow.)

Poulin and de Haan won’t dress tonight, though they’ll be on the bus tonight to Hershey. Anders Nilsson starts for Bridgeport. He’ll have six PTOs in front of him and one backing him up.

Referee Matt Kirk of Manitoba, former WHL ref, works his first Sound Tigers game. Most impressive thing on the Google search: a substantial amount of positivity about his work (especially compared to the usual). Now I’m looking forward to him. Two refs tonight and, from the preliminary assignments, in the other two games this weekend, too.

Haley wears an ‘A’ for the first time this year. The Whale have one to scratch. Edit: It’s Connolly. I’m not sure about the Hartford fourth line; was interrupted and saw a couple of different things there, not all of which jibed with each other. May try to fix it if it needs fixing.

One in, one out

Edit: Arthur Staple tweets this afternoon to expect either Aaron Ness or Calvin de Haan to get the call to fill in for Steve Staios. For either one, it’ll be his NHL debut.

Casey Cizikas was back in practice today, between Scott Howes and Sean Backman. But they were still at 12 forwards: Jeremy Colliton wasn’t feeling well today, Brent Thompson said, so he sat out. Moving up in his place between Micheal Haley and Rhett Rakhshani was the guy who was in Cizikas’s spot yesterday, Brett Gallant.

Justin DiBenedetto, Trevor Gillies, Chris Langkow: all remain out indefinitely. Saw Mark Katic, who said he’s continuing to feel better. Anything resembling full activity is still at least a month away, but he’s making progress.

Edit2: Indications are that Kael Mouillierat will join Bridgeport from Idaho.

Players with local ties on Canada’s Spengler Cup team: former Sound Tigers Blaine Down and Kurtis McLean; former Hartford (and older brother of Drew) Rico Fata; former Beast of New Haven Byron Ritchie; and Nolan Schaefer, whose wife is from Orange. Tyler Haskins’ Wolfsburg Grizzly Adams* team and Marek Malik’s Vitkovice team are in the tournament.

Had you ever seen the flag of New England? Not sure I had. (Hat tip: Uni Watch, with some interesting stuff from the new baseball CBA.)

*-Which always inspires the “What you want, Grizzly Adams?” quote from “Clerks.”
