Just got home to Katie Strang’s report that Brendan Witt is on waivers and would come to Bridgeport if there are no takers.
Usual lines today, with the readdition of Trevor Gillies and the addition of Martin Biron, who says he expects to start both games. Victor Bartley, for the second morning in a row, walked the stairs several times; he’s not supposed to be working up too much of a sweat yet.

Mike, with Witter being waived and Hillen being injured for at least a month, is it safe to say Kohn will remain with the big club?

Would assume so, yes, if nothing else happens.

Witt is a warrior and one of the tougher players in the game today but sports are a business. I hope someone picks him up but I am 99.9 % sure he will clear waivers and 90% sure he will clear re entry waivers when that day comes.
Come on Garth Waive Tambellini or send him down for a 2 week conditioning stint.

I think the whole “a business” thing sometimes conjures up ideas that don’t really apply. The Witt move is not a “business” move, it is a “sports” move. With no real cap consequences (Isles are above the floor and no where near the cap) and the Isles still paying Witt’s full $3M salary this is not financial. I watch every Isles game, I sometimes felt sorry for Witter, he was no longer able to play at that level. From all acounts a great guy, I hope he does well.

Tambellini wouldn’t clear waivers. I could see Nashville, Phoenix, Edmonton, Atlanta or Columbus picking him up…

At this point, Tamby would be better off being picked up…
