(Or, “Not so fast…”)
Via eliteprospects: Severstal Cherepovets says it has signed Max Gratchev. That said, initial word from Hartford is that he is still assumed to be part of the Wolf Pack organization, as they announced six days ago. We can’t be positive about credibility, anyway, as the Cherepovets release puts Lewiston, Maine, in Kanada instead of the Soedinenie Shtati Ameriki. (Unless tensions have flared again while I was doing auto-racing stuff.)
Not sure why I’m worried so much, as this is a lot more than we usually do for a former future Sound Tiger. But it does allow us Fun With Babelfish.
Ah: FwB produces “sequential novice“, but the real Fun comes outside the body of the press release, and we’ll use the Google Translate version: “There is an opinion? Do not write on the wall! Write to forum!” Always good advice.

good for him, i wouldn’t want to be a part of the wolfpack.

1) NY Dailey News & ESPN reporting that Kovalchuk’s contract was approved by the NHL. The NHL website twice (from 5pm to 8 & 8pm to 10) pushed their deadline on the issue. What gives?
2) Very confused about salary cap. I thought that the cap was based on the average salary of a contract: four-year contract worth $12mil (year 1=$2mil; 2 = $2.5; 3 = $3.5; 4 = $4) would have a cap hit of $3mil. Even if that player’s salary is, say $9mill the first two years and $3mil the last two, the cap hit is the same $3 mil.
