Edit2: So much for our early hockey fix. The Bruins moved those two rookie games from Shelton to Boston today. Edit3 (what’s our record, five?): Here’s the Islanders’ expected roster for those games. New name is Brampton scrapper Alex O’Neil. Awaiting word whether he’s a tryout or something more. One of the top links on Google for his name? This fight. They’ll wear the same colors at the NewGarden.
Hartford released its five-game preseason schedule a short time ago. In addition to the game at Quinnipiac on Friday, Oct. 1, the teams will face each other the next night in Shelton. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
We’ll see if this means Bridgeport’s is set to come out; teams sometimes get together to release them at the same time, though not always. Edit: Apparently not — probably closer to the regular-season schedule release.
Hartford’s doesn’t appear to be on its Web site at this writing, so here are the others: Thursday, Sept. 23, against what at that point will probably be “Albany” at the Prudential Center, 1 p.m. (interesting because the Rangers and Devils play at the Garden that night); Wednesday, Sept. 29, against Albany at Trinity College, 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 3, against Worcester in Cromwell, 2 p.m.

I had all intentions of going to both rookie games, and now theres a 10% chance I travel to Boston to see them. Any reason why Boston switched things up?

If I had to guess, Tyler Seguin.

That’s a pretty good guess. I still am thinking of making the trip up. Alex O’neill is pretty much guaranteed to fight someone. Had over 20 fights in the OHL last year and is on tryout. I’m sure he’s going to want to get noticed. No Martin or Haley for this game which means they will be up with the main team, hopefully playing in as many preseason games as possible.
