Doc was my guy. Mex made them legit. Darryl could play a little bit. But The Kid made them something more. His brave and public battle ended today. RIP.
After hearing negative comments from his teammates on the Expos, from being a camera hog to putting himself before the team, I was disappointed when the Mets traded for him. When he did arrived, he won me over. How can you hate a player tries to get involve with the team’s community and learning a new language?! It was refreshing to see a veteran player play as if it was his game in the majors! There was only one complaint: he put himself first before the team one evening when he was thrown out at second in the 9th with the Mets losing, trying to hit for the cycle. That might have been the only selfish play he made with the Mets and probably his career. RIP. The Kid will be missed
Sad day as a Met fan, watching his first game as a Met on SNY. Gary and Keith were the leaders of that team.
