Romano on the Express (edit: and Poulin up)

Tony Romano has been assigned to Chicago (ECHL), and Brent Thompson said it’s a short-term thing, that Romano will be back next weekend.

“We just want him playing,” Thompson said. “The big thing for Tony, with the numbers we have, with Rhett being back, the guys being healthy, I didn’t see him playing. … This way, he goes to a team, they’re one forward short, he gets the opportunity to play three games. To me, it’s a win-win. He’ll come back sharp, and obviously he’ll be back with us the rest of the way.”

Same cast as yesterday, with Benn Olson still wearing a forward’s jersey.

Edit2, 5:30: The Islanders called up Kevin Poulin this afternoon. Nothing immediate on who’ll back up (presumably) Anders Nilsson tomorrow or beyond. No tip-off from today’s ECHL transactions, either.

Calvin de Haan and Brett Gallant, it’s hoped, will get some light contact in the very near future. They and Mark Katic got a hard conditioning skate today after practice.

Edit: The Kings put Trent Hunter on waivers, it’s been widely reported in the past few minutes.

Prescouting, Adirondack plays at home tonight against Manchester. Will toss the box up at some point tonight. (Like this, perhaps.)

Bob Klapisch on Gary Carter.

Tip of cap to Tim Wakefield, who was 8-1 for the 1992 Pirates, of course.

And RIP, David Kelly.

  1. They brought in Riley Gill again?! I hope should he get into a game it goes a little better than the last time.
