Jon Sim returns to the organization on a two-way deal. The “two-way” part may stand out (and, per CapGeek, he hit the magic number on the back end), but if he plays the way he can, it’ll never matter. And if he doesn’t… well, it’s about time they signed somebody for Bridgeport, isn’t it? Aside from that, given the way he played (basically held together with duct tape while not letting on until afterward) in the ’09 playoffs, you know he wouldn’t come down slacking.
Elsewhere, oh my goodness: the return of Tom Grace to the WBS radio booth.
And Springy has a new coach:
| TEAM | Old | New |
| SYR* | Ross Yates (4/12) | Mark Holick (5/21) |
| HOU | Kevin Constantine (4/15) | Mike Yeo (6/16) |
| PEO | Rick Wamsley (5/6) | Jared Bednar (6/15) |
| ROC | Benoit Groulx (5/31) | Chuck Weber (7/27) |
| MTB | Scott Arniel (6/8, CLB head coach) | Claude Noel (6/21) |
| HAM | Guy Boucher (6/10, TB head coach) | Randy Cunneyworth (7/20) |
| LOW/ALB | John MacLean (6/17, NJ head coach) | — |
| BIN | Don Nachbaur (6/22) | — |
| OKC | — | Todd Nelson (7/15) |
| NOR | Jim Johnson (7/23) | — |
| SPR | Rob Daum | Rob Riley (8/3) |
*-Syracuse’s new coach was hired by Anaheim. Springfield’s new coach was hired by Columbus. Jeff Daniels moves with the franchise from Albany to Charlotte.
And most importantly, as Jason Chaimovitch pointed out, we weren’t invited to a very important wedding this weekend, American royalty: Lisa Simpson’s. Anyone hear how it turned out*?
Wait, aren’t you still on vacation? Well, back home (tell ya more later), but no, I’m not supposed to be wor… Hey, who posted this? The Incommunicado continues.
“Isn’t there any way to change the future?” “No, but try to look surprised.” (2F15).

Hey Mike, what makes $105k the “magic number” for the AHL?

Doug: Wouldn’t have to clear re-entry waivers when they call him back up. (As it happens, they haven’t gone above that number very often, if at all, recently on the back end of two-ways.)
Goon: Did, and as mentioned to Alison, extraordinarily kind of Chris.
