The Lauralton Hall Concert Choir sang at a New Year’s Day Mass at the Vatican in Rome, under the direction of music teacher Margy Sargent. The choir was invited by Pueri Cantores, an organization that brings Catholic choirs from around the world together.
The Mass, presided over by Pope Benedict XVI in St. Peter’s Basilica, was televised on the EWTN cable channel. “ For the Papal Mass we sang the music of the mass, but for our solo concert at the Basilica of San Giovanni Bosco, we sang pieces from our Christmas concert including Carol of the Bells, Candlelight Carol and African Noel,” Sargent said.
