Paul E. Moss, 67, has announced that he will retire at the end of the year after heading Milford Hospital for the past 30 years.
Moss’ tenure included a major expansion of the facility, the addition of birthing suites, hospice rooms, joint replacement and cosmetic surgery programs. A hospitalist program, in which staff physicians handle in-patient care, was also begun under Moss’ term as president.
Joseph Pelaccia has been named by the board to lead the hospital as of Jan. 1, 2010. Pelaccia has been Milford Hospital’s chief financial officer since 1975.
“Paul had led Milford Hospital through so many clinical advances and challenges in the past 30 years, and with the support of a strong medical staff has helped create one of the best medical centers in the region. We are extraordinarily pleased with what he has helped accomplish, and look forward to continue working with Joe as we continue our strong course,” said board chairman Howard Treat.
Treat also said the board has asked Moss to remain for up to six months in a consulting role after Jan. 1, “to work with Joe, the medical staff, and administrative team to ensure Milford Hospital continues to do the great job it has been doing.”
