The Jackie Greene Band wrapped its show a while ago and if you’re not familiar with their music, it’s definitely worth checking out. Of course, a lot of Grateful Dead followers know Greene from his work with Phil Lesh and Friends, but his solo work is much more accessible to non-Deadheads.
Greene stopped by the media tent to do a video interview, but I did get a few comments from him on his second visit to Bridgeport for the Vibes. He was here with his band and Phil Lesh and Friends in 2008.
“Gathering of the Vibes is an interesting festival,” he said. “It’s very centralized. I feel like too many of the festivals are too spread out over the grounds and that can prove detrimental.
“We do a lot of festivals every year and this is one of the nicest. The crowd is just here to have fun and that helps the musicians.
“Believe me, you don’t want to play before a disgruntled crowd,” he added with a laugh.
